It's a good idea to use a Sleep technique on Snorlax as soon as it wakes up from a Rest move or when it runs low on HP. Toxic also works well, but it takes quite awhile till Snorlax's insanely high HP run out. The only truly "safe" types to use against a Snorlax are Psychic, Ghost and Normal Pokémon, but your best bet is to send in a fast Pokémon that knows Sleep, Thunder Wave, or similar status-altering techniques. This makes battling against a versatile Snorlax somewhat of a game of chance. For example, if your Snorlax knows Thunder, Fire Blast and Psychic, it's a safe bet against any number of different types. But its strengths are mostly determined by what techniques you chose to teach it. Snorlax is a Normal type Pokémon, so it's of course not a good choice against Fighting and Ghost types. By giving your Snorlax varied attacks, your opponent won't know which Pokémon type is safe to use against your Pokémon. Snorlax can learn the majority of TMs, including Blizzard, Surf, Earthquake, Thunder, Rock Slide, Fire Blast, Self-Destruct and even Psychic. If you want to create a strong Battle Snorlax, you might also want to consider teaching it a varied array of attacks from TMs. This powerful two-part attack (you can't move on the second turn) can act as wonderful finishing move against tough opponents. Don't bother with techniques like Body Slam (Head Butt is just as effective) or Harden, but be sure to have Snorlax learn Hyper Beam. As far as techniques go, Snorlax comes equipped with the handy recovery move Rest from the get-go. Be prepared to take the initial hit and lose some HP before you can attack for the first time. Which brings us to Snorlax's biggest problem: Speed - or rather the lack thereof. It's well armored and packs a strong punch once it gets going. Think of this Craig Harris-like creature as a living tank and you get the idea. Tips: Snorlax's most powerful weapon is the combination of versatility, raw Attack power and an immense amount of hitpoints. LV 01 - Head Butt LV 01 - Amnesia LV 01 - Rest This Pokémon naturally learns the following techniques: Use the Poke Flute to wake them up and catch them when their HP are low. One is sleeping on Route 12, the other is on Route 16. Locations: There are two instances you can catch a Snorlax in Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow. Will eat anything, even if the food happens to be a little moldy.
